As you can see, we've made some big changes to the site. Apart from the obvious changes in colour, fonts and styling, there are some important new areas of the site and subtle but important changes in some of the ways you use it.
First the styling: it's brighter, bolder and more fun (we think so, anyway), and much has been done to make things stand out on the page just that little bit better. We've also completely redesigned the home page: in place of the rather functional menu of the previous site, we've provided a platform on which we can show you a wide variety of material which tells you either about what's going on in the rest of the site or more general classical music news.
And now the new stuff: we're very proud of our new listings of on-demand video performances. We've started these with the two highest quality offerings we know: the Berlin Philharmonic's Digital Concert Hall and the Metropolitan Opera's Met Player. Both offerings give you a wonderful experience of music in your own living room, and our search technology makes it as easy as possible to find performances that will interest you.
We've also added the facility to add reviews to the site, which are closely tied in to the concert finder. This means that when you look at a concert or opera listing, you'll be shown a list of any reviews of past concerts that feature either one or more of the same performers or one or more of the same pieces of music. There aren't too many reviews on the site yet, but as time progresses, we expect to add many and to turn this into a valuable resource.
There are small but noticeable changes to the way you use the site. In particular, we've redesigned the way you look for things in long lists and the way in which you add criteria to an existing search (such as adding a place to a search for a particular composer): we think the new method is less unwieldy and easier to understand. Another example is the inclusion of a "breadcrumb trail" to help you find your way back to places part way along your search.
Finally, we've made the site more friendly for advertisers by increasing the size of the advertising slots and adding a new banner location.
Do enjoy the new site, and do give us your comments!
