English National Ballet's Emerging Dancer Award showcases future stars

The evening included performances from six members of the company, as well as a magnificent interlude from previous winners Yonah Acosta and Shiori Kase. Prizes on offer were Emerging Dancer and the People’s Choice, voted for by the public. The renowned judging panel included Darcey Bussel CBE, Tommy Franzen, Luke Jennings, Jude Kelly and English National Ballet’s Artistic Director, Tamara Rojo.

A Tribute to Anna Pavlova at the London Coliseum

Her acclaim results from a career in ballet spanning over 30 years, in which she had a tremendous influence over the world of classical dance and earned her place as one of the finest Russian ballerinas in history. Therefore, it was no surprise that the London Coliseum decided to host a Russian Ballet Icons Gala dedicated to this sensational dancer.

The Royal Ballet's most recent Draft Works at the Linbury

Royal Ballet Draft Works 2012, © Andrej UspenskiThis year’s Royal Ballet’s Draft Works at the Linbury Studio Theatre offers up an eclectic mix of pieces from seven of the Company’s dancers, as well as three non-Company members. Some pieces more fully-formed than others, the evening presents short sections of choreography by the likes of Principal Ballerina Tamara Rojo and Thomas Whitehead in a very informal setting. Dancers perform uncostumed and in studio light conditions, with the main focus of the Draft Works being on providing a forum for the choreographers to test out new material to the great enjoyment of the audience.

Rafael Bonachela's 6 Breaths performed by the Sydney Dance Company

Performed by the Sydney Dance Company, 6 Breaths is a composition inspired by six forms of breath. It was followed by a second work called LANDforms, an emotional response to the effect of weather elements on landscapes. 6 Breaths charts the journey from human’s first breath (at birth) to their last.
