St Michael's Church, Manafon, Manafon, Manafon SY21 8BU, United Kingdom Thursday 27-Jun-13 07:30pm Guy Johnston Repertoire favoured by the great Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, plus a new work commissioned from Hilary Tann to honour the centenary of R. S. Thomas in his former Church. A pre-concert talk will be given at 6pm by Professor M. Wynn Thomas who has recently published a biography of Thomas, Serial Obsessive. Following the recital, there will be an opportunity to meet the composer Hilary Tann and learn more about the composition of her Gregynog Festival commission, Seven Poems of Stillness for violoncello and speaker. Admission to both talks is free to concert ticket-holders.
