| Union Chapel, Islington, London, London N1 2UN, United Kingdom Friday 22-Nov-13 07:30pm Barbican Britten: The Sixteen on Britten's 100th Birthday The concert finishes at approximately 10pm Benjamin Britten’s choral music connected him to the everyday musical lives of the UK and beyond more than any other part of his work, and it still does today. In this music – often written for amateur and community ensembles – Britten is at his most gregarious, his most radiant and sometimes his most experimental. The Sixteen present a smorgasbord of a cappella Britten at this concert, from the unerring perfection of his Hymn to St Cecilia to the advanced techniques and treacherous difficulty of the Flower Songs and Sacred and Profane.
