| Nikolaisaal, Potsdam, Wilhelm-Staab-Straße 10-11, 14467 Potsdam, Germany Friday 14-Jun-13 08:00pm Anne Sofie von Otter Ever since the "Swedish nightingale" Jenny Lind captured the hearts of audiences in the period of Chopin and Mendelssohn, extraordinary Scandinavian singers have time and again taken the international stages by storm including legendary Wagner singers such as Kirsten Flagstad and Birgit Nilsson, lyrical tenor Nicolai Gedda or Jussi Björling, "the Swedish Caruso" who Mankell’s opera-loving detective Wallander named his dog after. Anne Sofie von Otter is, in the best possible sense of the word, a modern representative of her art. Critics rightly rave about "one of the most flexible and most natural vocal instruments" among great contemporary voices. Von Otter, Forsberg and Kuusisto create an evening of Scandinavian Lieder-art and chamber music with the piano for once being more than the accompanying instrument and a violin that truly sings enchantingly. Scandinavian teamwork!

| Klosterkirche Hennef, Bonn, Klosterstraße 2, 53773 Hennef (Sieg) Bonn, Germany Sunday 15-Sep-13 06:00pm "Repeat it!" With “Repeat it!” the recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger and the violinist Rüdiger Lotter have worked out a programme that spans the period between Hildegard von Bingen to the Baroque and on to the present day, and focuses on the idea of the ostinato. Above these constantly repeated bass and harmony foundations their two instruments enter into furious rivalry. The abbey church in Hennef provides a fitting context for this timeless musical style, and allows listeners to experience its meditative effect.

| Carnegie Hall: Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, New York City, NY, New York City, NY, United States Sunday 16-Mar-14 07:00pm Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Join Zubin Mehta and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a celebratory concert, honoring Viennese music and its cultural influence. This musical marathon explores the broad spectrum of Viennese music, from classical to esoteric, in a format similar to those of concerts heard in this cultural capital at the turn of the 19th century. This stellar tribute includes opera extracts and songs significant to the pride of the nation, works by influential composers who frequented the city, and waltzes and polkas that mirror a traditional New Year’s Day program.
