| Dayton Masonic Center, Dayton, OH, Dayton, 45405-4702, United States Sunday 24-Mar-13 03:00pm Piano Masterpiece Now we come to this series' contribution to the Beethoven Piano Cycle when our own Joshua Nemith takes the spotlight for the Third Concerto, the C minor. It's 1800's Vienna and the young composer from Bonn decides that, while he cannot match Mozart's pianistic legacy, he can chart his own path to greatness. And so he does with this composition, at times both taut and spacious, tense and mysterious, languorous and fiery. Listen especially for the gorgeous Largo. Neal has placed two works by Beethoven's biggest influences on the program. From Mozart, Beethoven learned music; from Haydn he learned about life. | ||
