| Fairfield, Croydon, London, Park Ln, Croydon, London CR9 1DG, United Kingdom Thursday 12-Dec-13 07:30pm London Mozart Players We are delighted to welcome the hugely talented British clarinettist Mark Simpson, winner of the 2006 BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition, who performs a celebrated piece written during Mozart’s miraculously inspired final year. The Don Giovanni Overture provides a thrilling introduction to the conflicting comedy and tragedy explored in what is often described as Mozart’s greatest operatic work. Ginastera was one of the most famous Argentinian composers, whose pupils included the popular tango composer Piazzolla. This concerto for orchestra is a striking example of the composer’s skills, a test of virtuosity for all string players! The concert concludes with an introduction to the LMP’s season-long celebration of Schubert’s ‘local’ connections. His first symphony received its world première at the Crystal Palace, written at the age of just sixteen. | ||
