| Barbican Centre: Hall, London, Silk Street, London EC2Y 8DS, United Kingdom Tuesday 14-Jan-14 07:00pm Handel Jephtha / The Sixteen Jephtha leads the Israelites into battle and vows that, if victorious, he will sacrifice whomever he first sees on his return. Jubilation turns to horror when he is welcomed by his treasured daughter Iphis: her fate is sealed. Whilst composing Jephtha, Handel was increasingly troubled by his gradual loss of sight: it proved to be his last oratorio.
