Elsewhere, a selection of songs from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn is sung by Dutch baritone Henk Neven, who has been described variously as 'outstanding' (Sunday Times), an 'exceptional voice' (The Guardian) and a singer with 'astonishing technical finesse' (The Times). Jacob Ter Veldhuis, composer of self-styled 'avant-garde pop', collaborated with Jörgen van Rijen to create 'I was like WOW!' for trombone and video, a melodious and poignant meditation on the stories of Iraq War veterans. And over this period a close friendship has developed with artists from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.
