From a small town on the Korean border, she ended up in New York where Lorin Maazel appointed her associate conductor in 2005. And now she’s coming to Amsterdam. Jasper de Waal is giving his first RCO solo performance since being appointed principal hornist with the orchestra in 2004. Around Strauss’s neoclassical horn concerto, Zhang strings together three suites of theatre music.
