In this strikingly varied program we hear that Schubert and Handel could also fashion a melody and witness how perfectly Benjamin Britten captured the spirit of ancient Greece in his set of miniatures for solo oboe. That master of operatic charm, Rossini wrote his Duetto for double bass virtuoso extraordinaire, Dragonetti - much more than a comic turn.
