| The Royal Hospital Chelsea, Chapel, London, London SW3 4SR, United Kingdom Wednesday 10-Nov-10 07:00pm The RHC Concerts The fourth concert in The RHC Concerts 2010 season is given by the Schubert Ensemble. Presented in The Wren Chapel of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, this event offers the opportunity to enjoy music in this unique and wonderful setting which is the home of the Chelsea Pensioners. Suk’s poignant Elegie heralds Remembrance Day, a day of particular significance to The Royal Hospital and its In Pensioners. Louise Farrenc, the only female professor of music in the nineteenth century at the famous Paris Conservatory, was a great pianist and composer and wrote two critically acclaimed piano quintets. The concert ends with Schubert’s chamber masterpiece The Trout. The Schubert Ensemble has established itself over 27 years as one of the world’s leading exponents of music for piano and strings and regularly gives over 50 concerts a year. In 1998 the Ensemble received the Best Chamber Ensemble Prize from the Royal Philharmonic Society in recognition of its contribution to British musical life. | ||
