| Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center: Mead Theatre, Dayton, OH, 1 West 2nd St, Dayton, 45402, United States Friday 5-Nov-10 08:00pm Chopin's Circle: Evening One On this, the 200th anniversary year of Frédéric Chopin’s birth, we are marking the occasion with a unique pair of concerts. Normally, a weekend’s classical program repeats for both nights, but not this time! We welcome renowned Chopin advocate and gifted pianist Janina Fialkowska for two different programs on the same weekend. Each evening will open with a work written by a composer of Chopin’s era, followed by a solo piano mini-recital, given by the marvelous Ms. Fialkowska. After intermission, Chopin’s two piano concertos will be featured, one on each evening. Chopin, Fryderyk Franciszek (1810-1849), Solo Piano Works Schumann, Robert (1810-1856), Solo Piano Works | ||

| Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center: Mead Theatre, Dayton, OH, 1 West 2nd St, Dayton, 45402, United States Saturday 6-Nov-10 08:00pm Chopin's Circle: Evening Two Then, on the second evening of our Chopin celebration, Neal opens with Liszt’s Les Preludes. Like Berlioz’s overture the evening before, it’s an apt crowd-pleaser meant to transport you to the Romantic Era, a time so important to the development of Chopin’s art. Janina follows with a minirecital that shows the artistic crosscurrents between the solo piano works of Chopin and Mendelssohn (much like Friday evening when she contrasts Schumann’s solo works with Chopin’s). The program concludes with the Polish master’s Piano Concerto No. 1 (actually written after his Concerto No. 2). Chopin, Fryderyk Franciszek (1810-1849), Solo Piano Works Mendelssohn, Felix (1809-1847), Solo Piano Works | ||
