17 July - 07 August 2012
Westminster Abbey’s Summer Organ Festival brings together some of Britain’s finest organists. The versatility of the Abbey’s magnificent five-manual Harrison and Harrison organ, installed for the Coronation of King George VI in 1937, will be explored in a fascinating range of music extending from the early seventeenth century to the present day.
There really is something for everyone, whether you are an aficionado of the organ or a complete newcomer. The imposing interior of Westminster Abbey is the setting for the four recitals; in 2012 given by Westminster Abbey’s own Organist and Master of the Choristers, James O’Donnell, and sub-organist, Robert Quinney, as well as Colin Walsh, Organist of Lincoln Cathedral, and Stephen Farr, one of the leading recitalists of his generation.
