Festival 2012 dates: 11. 04 - 6. 05

Welcome to the Amersham Festival of Music.

2012 is our 30th year, and to celebrate this we will have two performances of Mozart’s lovely opera, The Marriage of Figaro. This will be performed by some excellent young soloists accompanied by The Amersham Festival Chamber Orchestra (AFCO) under the baton of our brilliant founder and Artistic Director, Iain Ledingham.

Our study day this year is on Debussy at 150, presented by the superb pianist and teacher Roy Howat, who gave us a popular study day on Chopin a few years ago. At St James’ Church Centre we will have wonderful evening with Harry the Piano, BBC Radio 2’s ‘musical sensation’ which will be most entertaining. We will be visited by the early music group Joglaresa for an evening of medieval music, enjoy dinner and The Duo Alfageme at Chenies Manor. Of course we will also have a masterclass for recorders with the wonderful Philip Thorby, a children’s concert called Sunday String Spectacular, and a Young Artists concert.

Our choral concert will be the ever popular Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the South Buck’s Choral Society and AFCO, and finally we have an ensemble concert with AFCO soloists and Iain Ledingham. We do hope you find plenty to tempt you, and look forward to welcoming you to the Festival.
