Mozart and more
Nearly every summer since 1999 the Friends of Chamber Music at Allhelgonakyrkan (KVAH) have organized a chamber music festival. This year Mozart is in focus. The string trio ZilliacusPerssonRaitinen, the Royal Philharmonic Wind Quintet and the pianists Simon Crawford-Phillips and Bengt Forsberg with others will be performing Mozart's String quintet in g-minor, Sonata in F for 4 hands, Quintet in E-flat for piano and wind, Piano trio in E, Violin sonata in B-flat, Divertimento in E-flat for string trio plus chamber music of Britten, Bruckner, Lutoslavski, Saint-Saëns and Vasks.
Allhelgonakyrkan is one of the finest spaces for chamber music in Stockholm. The size is perfect, seating approximately 250; the acoustics are marvelous, it makes no difference where one sits and the space can be filled equally well by a solo instrument or voice as by a chamber orchestra or a choir.
The first concert in a chamber music series at the church, with Bengt Forsberg as artistic director, was in 1988. KVAH was established in 1999 to support this series. During the year, in addition to the summer festival, at least one concert a month is planned to give people the opportunity to experience chamber music in this unique venue.
Stockholm is well worth a visit for its natural beauty as well as the exceptional chamber music at Allhelgonakyrkan.
