See 47 performances at St Martin-in-the-FieldsSeating up to 825 in the vaulted splendour of its beautifully restored 18th century interior, St Martin-in-the-Fields is the perfect venue in which to enjoy professional concerts featuring exceptional performers and accessible programmes. With over 350 concerts per year both at Lunchtime and in the Evenings continuing a tradition of musical performance stretching back to concerts given at the church by Handel and Mozart, St Martin's is not only an historic, but one of the busiest concert venues in Britain.
The Lunchtime Concerts have a proud history stretching back over 60 years with their roots in the famous National Gallery Concerts organised by Dame Myra Hess during the Second World War. Taking over from Hess's ground-breaking series, St Martin-in-the-Fields is proud to continue to provide support for young and emerging artists providing a rare, central London performance platform, and to contribute to the community with free music at the highest standard. Lunchtime concerts take place every Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 1.00pm.
Evening Concerts take place most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, Bank Holiday Monday's and the occasional Tuesday. Concerts feature a variety of compositions and ensembles from chamber to orchestral and choral. Programmes particularly revolve around the repertoir of the Baroque and Early Classical periods which suits so perfectly the church's exceptional accoustic.
Online and telephone booking is available and audiences can enjoy a meal at the award-winning Cafe in the Crypt before the concert or during the interval.
