Osian Ellis invited Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears to give a recital with him at the Gregynog Festival in 1972 during his tenure as Gregynog Arts Fellow. In a pre-concert talk, free to ticket-holders from 1.30pm, Christopher Painter and Rhian Davies will discuss the new commission and the influence of Painter’s teacher and mentor, the composer Alun Hoddinott, who collaborated with Britten and Pears at the Cardiff Festival during the 1970s.
