Such was the case at the Wigmore Hall on Wednesday night after Roderick Williams and Gary Matthewman were called back to the stage for a second encore. We had been treated to an evening of Lieder and English song centred around Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel and the theme of wandering. Roderick Williams made the perfect vagabond, filling the stage with a confident presence that captivated the entire room.
