A Romantic night out: Dvořák, Tchaikovsky and Brahms at the Dallas Symphony
Image credit: Pablo González © D. VaasMirroring the January ritual of all who indulge in one final dessert-binge before dieting to honor ill-fated New Year’s resolutions, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra got plenty of Romanticism out of their system this weekend before their Mozart Festival, set to last the remainder of this month. Image credit: Members of Team GB and ParalympicsGB appear at the Last Night of the Proms © BBC / Chris ChristodoulouThe Last Night of the Proms isn’t really a concert at all; it’s two very different concerts put on one after the other. The Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances too are substantial in their form and structure.

Image credit: Alasdair Beatson © Giorgia BertazziBell’s Whisky used to be almost synonymous with Perth, and anyone who lives in Perth and Kinross will have been touched by the generosity of A.K. Bell’s Gannochy Trust, started 75 years ago. Early projects included sewerage systems to improve the quality of the river Tay, and setting up the Gannochy Housing Estate. Nowadays, the Trust helps all sorts of projects from village hall refurbishment upwards, improving the life of not only local residents, but further afield as the Trust now has a broader focus across Scotland.
