True to this principle we use 2013 for turning from Jazz to Folk in the Garden. Scandinavia’s folk music scene reinvigorates the local musical tradition. Old melodies are lovingly and respectfully absorbed without any stylistic inhibitions and they are linked to multiple worlds of contemporary musical experience. Be there when a number of illustrious representatives of their art take over the park at Heiliger See and the spark once again truly lights the fire. Performances happen simultaneously in various locations both indoors and outdoors between Orangery and Marble Palace and with a trip to the Sea Shell Grotto and the Bark Kitchen at Jungfernsee. You receive your complete program overview at the entrance so feel free to individually create your very own musical course while enjoying the atmospherically lit park in its vespertine beauty.

| Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ: Main Hall, Amsterdam, Piet Heinkade 1, Amsterdam 1019 BR, Netherlands Saturday 26-Oct-13 08:15pm Nederlands Kamerorkest In dit concert staan zowel werken van de hedendaagse Japanse componist Toshio Hosokawa op het programma, als die van Johann Sebastian Bach. De muziek van Bach en van veel andere westerse componisten is erg geliefd in Japan. Andersom is Japanse muziek in het Westen nog weinig gekend. Dé kans om de composities van Hosokawa te leren kennen, waarin Oost en West prachtig samenkomen.
Bijvoorbeeld in het concert voor het klassiek Japanse blaasinstrument sho en kamerorkest. De internationaal vermaarde sho-speelster Mayumi Miyata introduceerde dit traditionele instrument in de hedendaagse muziek. Componisten als Toru Takemitsu en John Cage componeerden speciale stukken voor haar. Zeer vertrouwd klinkt de viool in de meeslepende concerten die Bach schreef. De kunstenaar Norman Perryman schildert live, synchroon op de muziek, vloeiende beelden die de muziek dramatisch versterken.

geven, haalt de treinwachter een fluitje uit zijn zak. Drie keer blaast hij hard en roept: ‘Over enkele
ogenblikken vertrekt de pantoffeltrein: instappen en ogen sluiten!’ Een acteur en een danseres geven
ogen, neus en mond de kost. En de muzikanten? Die zijn er voor de oren. Wie goed luistert, kan de
muziek zelfs voelen. En wie goed kijkt, kan horen wat hij ruikt…
Deze muziekvoorstelling in de Kleine Zaal voor kinderen van 2 tot 4 jaar (duur circa 35 minuten) vindt
plaats om zowel 13.30 als 15.30 uur. Voor en na het concert zijn er op allerlei plekken in het gebouw
activiteiten voor kinderen van verschillende leeftijden. Van spelen en schminken tot muzikale speurtocht tot
muziekinstrumenten knutselen.
